October 8, 2026
The Farr Best Theater at 109 N. Main St. is a stage for Agatha Christie this month. The Fleetwood Project's production of "The Mousetrap" runs there through October 11. Five nights after the last curtain, on October 16 and 17, the same building hosts a paranormal investigation that runs from 8:30 p.m. until 11:55 p.m. A week after that, on October 24 at 7 p.m., Will Baffle brings a magic show to the Farr Best.
That pattern holds across the whole Haunted Mansfield calendar this year. The program runs mostly through four historic properties downtown. Each one gets a late-night ghost hunt weekend of its own, and each one also hosts something on a different date that starts earlier and asks less of your nerves. For a household planning October, the building matters less than the date you pick.
Visit Mansfield's Haunted Mansfield page describes the city's ghost stories as running "from the stage of the Farr Best Theater, to the halls of the Man House, all up and down Main Street and between the headstones at the old Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery." Here is how this October's schedule divides up the four buildings that are open to the public.
| Building | Address | Late-night ghost hunt | Other October bookings |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wallace-Hall Art House | 210 S. Main St. | Oct. 2–3, already past | Wallace-HOWL "Eleanor Awaits" walk-through starting Oct. 15; a Haunt the Block stop on Oct. 15 |
| Man House Museum | 604 W. Broad St. | Oct. 9–10 | Halloween at the House, Oct. 31, 1–3 p.m. |
| Farr Best Theater | 109 N. Main St. | Oct. 16–17 | "The Mousetrap" through Oct. 11; Will Baffle magic show, Oct. 24, 7 p.m. |
| Mansfield Historical Museum | 102 N. Main St. | Oct. 23–24 | Museum Escapes: All Hallow's Affliction, Oct. 15 at 4:30–7:30 p.m. and Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. |
As of October 4, one of those ghost hunts is already done. The Wallace-Hall investigation ran October 2 and 3, and its ticket page shows the sale as ended. The other three are still ahead, one per weekend, through October 24.
The four investigations are run with Wandering Soul Paranormal, and the city's Community Engagement team is listed as host on the ticketing pages. Each one carries a $35 base price, and Eventeny shows $40.60 for an individual ticket once tax and processing are added. The listed window is 8:30 to 11:55 p.m., which makes these the longest and latest events on the calendar.
Each building comes with its own story, and Visit Mansfield tells them in its guide to the city's haunted locations.
The Man House was the homestead of city founder Ralph Man. The guide recounts reports of Man family spirits and a woman in white seen at a window. That investigation is this coming weekend, October 9 and 10.
The Farr Best dates to 1917. Visit Mansfield's write-up names the spirits tied to it: MacDougal, Mrs. Peck, a drummer, and Milton Farr.
The guide links the Historical Museum to ghost lore as well, alongside the Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery and its own woman-in-white reports. The museum's investigation comes last, October 23 and 24.
The Wallace-Hall House was built in 1878, and Visit Mansfield's account mentions unexplained footsteps there. The city's description of the ghost hunt asked whether James Wallace or another spirit haunts the house. That question leads straight into the second booking for that building.
For the second year, the city's Cultural Arts team is turning the Wallace-Hall Art House into the Wallace-HOWL Art House, according to the Mansfield Record's September 30 report. Local artists Robin Moody and Culley Franks designed the walk-through. Public Art Manager Christopher Bryant told the paper that "the concept, design, and installation were all fully carried out by local artists" and that he expects families to enjoy it.
This year's story is "Eleanor Awaits." It follows Eleanor, a playful young spirit who still treats the house as her own, as she leads guests room by room to help her recover happy memories and "bring a little peace back to the house she loves." On the ghost-hunt weekend, the possibility of a spirit was posed as a question for adult investigators. In the walk-through, she is the guide, and the concept is pitched to the whole household.
The house itself has changed a lot in a short time. The Record reports that over the past three years the 1878 home has become a permanent art gallery and maker space, with a dozen galleries, daily art classes, and studio rooms for local artists. Admission to the walk-through is $5, or $2.50 during Haunt the Block on October 15.
The schedule needs a check before you go. The Record lists 6 to 10 p.m. on October 15, 16, 17, 23, 24, and 30. Visit Mansfield lists October 15 through 30 at 8:30 p.m. Plan around the Record's dates, then confirm the hours on the ticket page.
The other buildings follow the same split. The Historical Museum hosts Museum Escapes: All Hallow's Affliction on a Thursday afternoon into evening and a Saturday at 1 p.m., about a week before its own late-night investigation. The Man House closes the month with Halloween at the House from 1 to 3 p.m. on October 31, three weeks after its ghost hunt.
For most of the month, the two versions of each building fall on different weekends. For three days in the middle of October, nearly all of them land on the same few blocks of Main Street at once.
The Crawl the Block route is also a good list of who is doing business downtown right now. Participating stops on the event page include Che Jo's Boutique, Blasted Tattoos & Piercings, Board and Brush, East Coast Flavors, Ilusions, Nikilee Pottery, Old Vine Texas, Purity Pearls, Same Page Bookshop, Tacos La Pasadita, Mansfield Tattoo, Sunshine Yoga Shack, Twisted Root Burger Co., and The Spa Downtown. If you went to the downtown summer series we wrote about in Summer Nights in Mansfield, the trolley stops here are many of the same storefronts, seen on a Friday night in October.
After the Historical Museum investigation on October 24, most of the remaining calendar happens outdoors or in newer venues. Boo Bash at the Fields runs from 6 to 9 p.m. on October 22 at Fields at Station 63. Geyer Commons hosts "Poltergeist" on October 23 and "Coco" on October 30, both at 5 p.m. The 4th Annual Saddlebag Trunk or Treat is at American Legion Post 624 at 7 p.m. on October 30, and Halloween at the Commons runs from 2 to 5 p.m. on October 31.
Fields at Station 63, at 500 Heritage Parkway, is also where the new Miracle League Field opened in August. It is an adapted field with a 100-foot outfield built for children with special needs, and it holds open-house nights at 6:30 p.m. on October 13 and November 17.
Two of the historic buildings still have dates in that final week. "Eleanor Awaits" has its last listed night on October 30, and the Man House opens its doors in daylight on October 31.
The city promotes all of this as "The Most Haunted City in Texas," as the Record noted in its September report. Visit Mansfield ties the city's arrival on what it calls the "Paranormal Map" to the premiere of the "Ghost Adventures: House Calls" episode "Mansfield Meltdown." We could not find a record of when the slogan was adopted. It reads as the city's marketing, with no official designation behind it. The full schedule, with ticket links for every event above, is on the Haunted Mansfield page.
